Tasha Tudor

Hi! Today I'm joining a group to celebrate the art of one of my most favorite people in the whole world. Tasha Tudor. She was such an extraordinary person. She lived in the old style her entire life. Her art is just amazing. Pick up any book and look at any picture and there is so much detail you could sit for days and not find it all. She did it all in the old fashioned way. And they are books you just feel warm inside to visit. Some are written by her and others are just illustrated by her. Such as The Night Before Christmas and Fairy Tales. She also had a doll series and the Corgiville series. All are classics and all are so wonderful. Here is a sample of my collection of her books.

We found the website and found that she had signed copies of some of her books, so I went on and picked one out for my Christmas one year. After I got out on my own I "bought everything I wanted" so my Mother found it hard to buy for me so I pick out my Christmas. It works ok I get what I want and if she doesn't say "Oh you know what it is we got it at..." I even forget!!! Sorry back to the books so I picked out the cook book. I love kitchen and cook books so I thought this would be my perfect signed copy !

I could have planned this better and shown inside pictures but I don't think that way. Please go look for her books. I'm sure you all know someone or yourself who will love one of her beautiful versions of these favorites. The 23rd Psalm is my favorite and to have her beautiful version is just so wonderful.
It was heartbreaking to find a tribute to Tasha in the December 2008 issue of Early American Life. She was not covered on the news as some of the other celebrities in the world and with knowing what I do about her it was probably the way she would have wanted. This was posted on her site by her family.

It is with great sadness that we must tell you Tasha Tudor, 92, passed away in her Vermont home on June 18, 2008 surrounded by family and friends.

Happy Birthday Tasha, She would only want to be remembered in a happy way!

I love my blogging friends!!

I have been in a posting slump. Not really any great ideas. I had a give away and a found some furniture that helped. But reading through all your wonderful blogs I have found some great inspiration! Happy Sunday!

I have so enjoyed visiting with so many of you with your Spiritual Sunday posts and some of you share your faith when you are moved to do so. So I thought I would share a few on my favorite new things that I look at every day that lift me up.



So my picture taking is really bad and I didn't end up with one of my other plaque. It is a beautiful vintage post card and it says:

I've been really bad!!

I'm SOOOO Late!

Ok here is a great party!

I'm just late but reading the others I came up with an idea! Thanks guys I've been out of sorts and not really inspired to post but I think you will like this one! Please visit sweet Marie @ emma calls me mama for a whole list!

MOVIES! Well to be exact Stars Wars!!!


Going to see Stars Wars with my Dad and brother is one of my lasting memories of my father. He was killed in a car accident that following December. I remember feeling so grown up! I was 8 and my brother was 7! None of our friends went. My parents are sci-fi buffs so they went then decided we could go. I remember being surprised when mom told us because I really wasn't sure what it was or why they wanted us to go BUT it was amazing!!! In those days we didn't go to the movies much and they were not on tv and NO ONE could afford to buy them for betamax! Yeah, I'm that old! So off we went and that was that!


So a few years later Mom packed us off to see The Empire Strikes Back!!! I was now old enough to be in love with Han Solo!! The ending was hard for my bearly teen heart to take!! Once again we had the best time as a family! It was just the three of us but we had a ball!

SO by this time we were dying to see it and our Jr. High friends were fans and so everyone had to go! Well we had my step-dad and his two kids in the family now so off all 6 of us went to the movies! The one and only family movie the six of us went to, my brother and I were too old for family time. And going to the rodeo was the only other family outing I was "forced" to go on! (that is teen Lisa talking) But the movie was great!!! And they all lived happily ever after!
I have to admit I haven't gotten into the new ones. I know I should but I just cannot. It isn't the same when you can watch this stuff daily on TV!
Those were the days.....

Thoughtful Tuesday....

I was thinking today and so I went shopping. I know but I don't really ever make sense. I have to say that I love all my blogging friends, so please take this in the spirit in which I mean it.
YOU ARE ALL IN TROUBLE!!!
Well ok not all of you but those who aren't will be very unhappy with the rest when I share this!
I am now hooked on the Somerset Studio magazines. For those of you not familiar they are lovely magazines about very very talented people and give you all kinds of ideas to become crafty yourself. Also they are $15 EACH!!!
Now you see my problem. I have looked at them before they have several versions all just as great as the other. And to be fair one is only $8.99 but I haven't been as thrilled with it yet. OF COURSE!
I started with GreenCraft. OOOHHH is it ever cool I think it is also the first of that kind.

It has the greatest idea for making paper bowls. I've been dieing to find something to do with my fast food drink trays and here it is! Will let you know when I have them done!! click on the pic above to see a sneak peek!
(I did get this one at Joann Fabrics with a 40% off coupon so it wasn't that bad :)

Yes ladies that is our very own Mary Englebrite!!!
I love her and I'm now obsessed with having a studio so I had to have this one. I got to use my 40% off coupon so I was ok. Again I just got home and have to get to reading these but I'm so excited!!!!
So I GUESS I will forgive all you lovely ladies for getting me hooked! Now I have to get 5 coupons a month or so from Joann Fabrics to help with my new obsession!

I'm also currently obessed with back to school. As some of you may know I do not have my own children, I share my sister's with her. So I went and bough the rising 1st grader his back to school pack. pin keeps

I love pin keeps (cooler than pin cushions don't you think?)!!!! I made these two.
They are so useful and yet so fun. Oh I really have NO idea why something you have to keep pins in while you sew (I don't sew you know) can be such a GREAT thing.

Ok now I come out of my fit and calmly remind myself I have a jar FULL at home. Not just full they don't all fit!!! See the poor jar in the back it's going to bust!
