Christmas Peek

These are from Michael's I got the 40% off a long time before Thanksgiving!

The skates, little cake, and Believe sign I got at Khols. They sent a $10 card in the mail! Score!

 

 

 

  The sweet little sewing basket is Martha Stewart from Kmart. I got it on sale went straight from the book store where I bought her Christmas magazine. Which is $4.99 and has a $5 off your purchase of $5 or more at Hallmark! Free magazine, cute ornament on sale! That’s the way I like it!!

This sweet guy was free! Well he was my birthday present form my stepdad! LOVE HIM!!! I would like to say my stepdad is a really good shopper but mom got it from where she works so he really didn’t do anything. It was a great deal though! hehehe

 

 

I have been feverishly coupon shopping. I still have one more $5 certificate for Hallmark! I got Molly a new dog bed from CVS for $2.99!! I try to not over spend but when it’s free money I’ll pay the tax! hehehe

I have my tree up but not decorated. All the decorations have been sorted and decided on. I even had to make one last trip to Suzanna’s today before I finished decorating! Wait til you see the great vintage that came form there! Thursday is their Christmas Party. If you are in  the area it is so worth it! AND I did leave a few items for others to buy. It was hard but mom and I were thrifty with our finds!!

Please Help!

I found a wonderful background blog that had perfect ones for Christmas. I THOUGHT I followed it! Then I thought I could go through and find the blog that I found the link from. Both are GONE!! The blog was decorated for Christmas earlier this week and had sweet retro pics. I don't think the background was retro but fit well. The site though had great stuff in tons of categories I couldn't wait to use. I was waiting for Thanksgiving to be over!! Any way I have search google, Sares has a huge list, and looked at all the blogs I follow! I really thought it had shabby in the name and I found 3 that are not it. Now I have also found some really great sites to use at other times. I just really want to find this one. I'm ok with my look but is dull in color so I want to spruce it up!!

So this one is better but I still would love toe find that other one. It may not have been a blog. It might be a web site that may be why I couldn't follow it.

Thankful for Family

I am so thankful for my family.

I got to go to my Aunt Barbara’s for breakfast on Saturday. Our cousins form Charleston were in town. Christine and Chuck have Olivia and Chase. Baby Chase has been battling Neurobalstoma for the past 7 months. He is 15months old!

I also found out the new year will bring ANOTHER  baby cousin!! I have 11 cousins on my father’s side. With my brother and I there are 13 of us.

It is always a blessing to get together. It has been longer than anyone can remember that we were all together. It had to be when we were all in school and since there are only two left in Collage and I’ve been out 17 years it’s been a long while!

Tuesday’s Treasures

I was out and about this weekend visiting family etc and went past one of our great thrift shops.

I had to go in.

I had purchased my yearly bunch of fall flowers from Trader Joes and had NOTHING to put them in! I only buy the cheep bunches from Trader Joes one I’m cheep, two they last forever, three I love flowers I just don’t see spending so much for them to die in a week or less, four the ones at TJ’s are just amazing!

I looked around the store. Start in front OH LOOK Christmas is 50% off!

There was NOTHING CLOSE TO GOOD! (sigh)

On down to the housewares. Well there were a few pieces, hum, some frames, nothing here.

NEXT ISLE

All the vases in the world!

You know the ones you get with flowers sent to you but you really don’t have room oh lets get rid of it ones!

Well I found a great one PERFECT SIZE for my flowers and $.50!

SCORE!

Then I looked. Oh candle holders. I have been looking for 2 years for a 5 candle Advent Wreath. They only have 4. The boxes of candles only have the 3 purple and the pink. OK I can get a white one no worries. But am I the only one who thinks it’s odd they don’t add in the Jesus candle to a wreath that leads up to the day of his birth? Anyway

I found some really great ones. And they were CHEEP!

The sliver one is Onida and matches the flatware pattern my mom had when she got married! $1! The glass one is iridescent and was a whopping $.25! The large glass one is a vintage one that is hard to find and I paid $5 for one last year that I made into a cakeplate. $2!!!! One of the first 2 will hold my Jesus candle when I set up my wreath this weekend!

AND

There was this super cute milkglass dish! $1! I needed more (hehe) to put on my desk (lol) for catching all those little things I needed to throw in.

What a great day. They made $5 and I have new treasures!

Christmas Magazines

I have been waiting and waiting for the Mary Janes Farm Old Fashioned Christmas to be in our local booksellers.

I am now a permanent Barns and Nobles Fan!!

I was a Borders only shopper. No really good reason. BUT lately I’ve been venturing into B&N. They have the best book “stuff” and the magazine selection is AMAZING!  So I have to say I may be a convert. I’ve even been trying to see if I can justify their pay members program. I think I may have already made my money back in the past month! OH WELL!

SO back to the magazines. This one is

I need to have dinner and then I will delve in while watching the American Music Awards!

I also found this one in Target yesterday.

It is just the best Christmas one out this year! I like the magazine but it hasn’t been really appealing to me in the past few months but This is a Keeper!

What's in a Name

Sares at Loveliegh Treasures wants us to share names and where they came from.

What fun!

 

Since it is my Birthday today I'll share about my name.

Lisa Ann

The Lisa was so I wouldn't be named after any one in the family. The story I got was my dad went to the store to get my mom something she was craving at the time and a few ladies were discussing As the World Turns.

If any of you remember that show in the 70's or even 80's there was a great character with the name Lisa she was on for many many many years and main character for most of those years. Apparently in 1968 she was getting married a lot and topic of conversation!

So when he got home he asked if mom liked the name. Now keep in mind he didn't know anything about the show and mom thought it was funny when he told what he'd heard!

My Ann is my mother's middle name and the name of her mother's oldest sister. Ann was dead by the time I was born so it was many many many years before I really made the connection.

Another really good part is Mom wanted me named Kimberly Louise! I think Kim is just as common as Lisa so I would have been fine with that one too!

My nickname that was given to me by two people who never even knew each other is Sunshine!

So I really like that Typepad randomly picked this one for me!

Christmas is sneaking in...

I am not decorating for Christmas until Thanksgiving weekend.

But for some reason Christmas is sneaking in my home!

Really great find at Homes goods! $3.99!!

Large snowman birthday gift from Mom it was at World Market.

She also got me the little snowman he lights up!

The bell is a Wal Mart find, $1!!!

The sweet little man was a last year find that never got packed away, and I got the two matching buckets this year.

The candle will probably stay out after Christmas and the Merry Christmas sign is another

  Wal Mart  bargin $1!! They have really great things and they are all $1 Go quick!

House Update

So the enamel top table is in place and cleaned up. I got my shelves out of storage (and the laundry room) and hung them to give me more space to display.

Funny how this long one is the perfect length of the table! I knew I kept it for some reason!

Sorry I get excited when I can justify my hoarding.

These two little ones have been in storage for 4 years. I have used them only for about a month. My sister has two more at her house so Cupcake can have a wall with her treasures!

All of these lovely treasures were in or on the secretary that is still sitting in the middle of my living room floor. I hope to get it to storage soon. The rain has stopped so I hope to go tomorrow.

We had a hurricane for most of the week and are a bit soggy here in NC.

 

Here is another peek at some Christmas goodies.  And spray paint. hehe I think I'll keep it but it is satin and I need gloss to paint my two old chairs to go with my two new chairs and table.

I didn't take pictures of the kitchen. Still a work in progress but usable again! Yea!

More to come. Thanks for bearing with me. I'm working on it all but the time change and darkness have really made me exhausted most days lately.

Sorry I've been MIA

I had to work and then went shopping on Saturday.

That was a bad idea.

Here is one of 2 new tables I "had" to buy, really I did this one $76 it is an enamel top in PERFECT condition! Had to!

But as you can see my room is, well

Maybe tomorrow the door will open.

Only good part is I get to go to the storage unit tomorrow. It is going to explode but my house will be ready for more.

My house is really really clean now!

I'll be back visiting soon. As I'm doing this I am purging and taking stuff to Suzanna's to sell, I'm starting on my Christmas next.
