Here he is ladies... My main man

Smokey the Bear
I have a long relationship with Smokey.  He is a very busy man and has a lot of forests to look after so I only get to see him once a year at our State Fair. It doesn't matter I love him.
He leaves me special treasures every year

A badge

A pink pencil does he know me or what?

a pencil sharpener of course

a ruler

And a bracelet for me! This is the first jewelery piece I've had, looks like we might get serious.
Smokey is a legend and I feel very lucky he comes to see me every year!
Hugs, Lisa

Update Sorry I really meant to give you Smokey's website. When I went to look it up I found he is celebrating 65 years of fighting Forest Fires! Smokey is one of the nations longest running  public education campaigns. Go visit http://www.smokeybear.com/
He has fun space for kids and for you teachers and homeschool moms tons of resources! It's a really great site that tells the story of the bear cub named Smokey that started it all!

  1. Hi, Lisa,
That Smokey is quite a guy. I grew up in NM not too far from where the little Smokey bear cub was discovered after a forest fire. I always told the story of Smokey to my schoolchildren. The firemen would come to our school and sometimes pass out Smokey memorabilia. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit at Bunny Cottage. Have a beautiful rest of the week! Vicki

  7. I love Smokey the Bear - he really reminds me of my childhood and those commercials " Only YOU can prevent forest fires." We camped every summer and I always saw Smokey signs reminding us to be careful.

  8. I wondered about him. They don't seem to teach about him to our kids anymore. Wondering about the owl that says give a hoot don't pollute too? Wish they would go back to teaching that kind of stuff instead of some of the stuff they are teaching these days. Glad to have his website so I can show my teenagers.

  9. Great treasures. I remember Smokey's commercials from when I was a child ....although I have not heard much from him in recent years. Thanks for reminding me about him. My husband is a volunteer firefighter and has had to help put out several forest fires due to carelessness. Thanks for sharing your treasures and post.

    Blessings,
    Elizabeth

  11. Thank you Lisa...so, somuch for leaving the comment you did on my blog. You made me evening. Bless your heart for it.
I love blogging. There are days I just can't get to it or am not inspired to. I feel guilty when I don't visit people but like you, I was spending too much time online and now I have to limit it. It is fun and inspiring and wonderful but time consuming!
I LOVE what you do for a living and think you deserve lots of thanks and praise for it. Anyone who loves animals is a friend to me!! : )
And this Smokey post was wonderful! You have a great collection! Smokey is another unsung hero in my book!

Thanks again Lisa...see you again soon!
    Love,
    Sue

  12. No....he's MY main man! Oh Lisa, I love all of your Smokey stuff! I don't know if you saw the Smokey scarf that I got a few weeks ago, but I was so excited to find it because it was my first and only Smokey thing. You've got a great collection there, and I'm glad somebody else loves him as much as I do!

  17. Ah Mr. Smokey! He is indeed a busy man, but thank you for sharing him with all of us. I know he spends a great deal of time in our local mountains. We seem to be forest fire central.

I hope you have a fun Friday, Lisa.

  18. I really think you and Smokey will be very happy together. I think you'll have very hairy children though - but with working at a vet, I'm sure you see a lot of hairy children!!! You're just way too funny girl ~ ♥ P.S. I loved the 6 things about yourself that you posted and I said "ditto" to all but one - I haven't read the Twilight books YET so I'm not seeing New Moon YET, but everything else was dead on! Have a great weekend ~ ♥

  21. Lisa, I'm so sorry my page wasn't loading for you. That is VERY good information. Please always let me know, because I really want to avoid missing visitors. I will keep the pics around 500, no matter what others may say or do! :-)

I've been very busy with my job...10-14 hours a day. I'm getting close to the end of putting things on my website and then I will be out at blogs more, too.

Great Smokey "gift". I'd consider them treasures because he is, afterall, a legend!

I had no idea you guys were so serious. Is that bracelet jade? Yowza! He's so handsome...and is there anything better than a fella in uniform? Have you picked out the wedding venue yet?
