2011

I got on my laptop today to post my News Years wishes. I started on blogger and visited my friends who have posted over the last 2 days I have been away.

All the posts are lovely and reminiscent of the past year.

Some somber, as last year was of changes that were good but brought on by  sad events, some just a look at what the year held.

Visiting your blogs can make me think of so many things all at one time.

I laugh, I tear up, I smile, I am moved, I am excited, I learn

I watched a how today, Netflix is my new best friend no commercials!, and they debated the “real” friend and the virtual friend.

I have “real” friends in blogging. And believe me if I had unlimited funds I would have more than once jumped on a plane and been there to cook, clean or just listen.

I am here and I listen form here.

I have my own issues and drama and I understand having it even if I cannot truly identify with your issue.

BUT

I do care and I do think of you even when I am not online.

I find myself rushing to my phone or laptop because I have one of you on my mind that day. It is comforting to find you there, and there have been times when I just knew you were having a bad day.

So I hope when you see a small ((((HUGS)))) from me you know you are important to me and I do not want to but in but I care.

And I hope in a small way for a small moment you feel you are loved.

And I was noticing a book on a friends book shelf and thought I need that one BUT I am making myself read the one before it first!

Do you do that? Make a silly goal to be able to treat yourself?

Kate Morton is a wonderful writer, her books are in depth and cover many time periods. I love them and get involved but I have a hard time reading right through them. The Forgotten Garden took me months and I read others while I was going along. I am on The House at Riverton and it is as slow going, I am making my self read it so I can get her latest The Distant Hours. I can do it!

Have a super extra new year that I hope brings wonderful new beginnings to all of my lovely friends!

Just a Thought

I am stopping by to let you know I am almost moved and settled and have pictures to share soon! I hope to be back blogging more soon. We are using any available wifi at the moment so I don't always have access :)

 I just wanted to share a thought

I have worked at my current animal hospital for over 5 years.

I love it and the animals we treat here. So after 5 years you see quite a few of them pass on. Over the past few weeks we have lost more than normal and it is sad for us all. It is hard knowing what it is like to loose a pet and friend. We are lucky that our Vet/owner has been here 25 years and even if it takes some people a while to come back they usually do. I think they like that we too remember their past friends and rejoice in their new ones.

I know this is a sad post for a beautiful Fall day but I was just remembering a few old friends today.

My story is of my sweet little cousin Chase. At nine months old he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.

(The bruise on his head is from playing like a boy not his cancer ;)

How can you say to a baby’s family your child has the worst form of cancer in 7 different parts of his body? I know why I am not a doctor.

My cousin Christine has the best spirit and the whole family dug in and 11 months after diagnosis Chase was treatment free, he has stayed that way for 4 months now. Chase has continued to fight and is a happy child that climbs and runs and swims and enjoys all that life has to offer.

It is great to see God work so fast and how even those who should be too little to understand can know to live life to the fullest.

I have always had Hope even if all the loved ones didn’t make it all the way through the journey. They lived and had good lives and that is the Hope we are given daily.

I thank God every day for the day I had they are really all good no matter how I handled them, simply because I had the day.

Magic (Blogaversary replay)

 I am coming up on my 1 year Blogaversary and thought I would replay some highlights from my first year! It has been a great year. And it seems that blogland is jumping. Spring fever has hit! I have at least 10 new followers in the past month , Welcome by the way I love new friends, and I am not doing anything different!  It is great to find new blogs and new friends! I hope you enjoy my replay!

I had been watching Criss Angel on A&E and it occurred to me that there are many different ways to look at "Magic". I don't just see it as producing a coin and making it disappear again. Magic looks like a blue clear sky with fluffy clouds. It sounds like a baby's laughter. It feels like fluffy warm blanket. Magic is everywhere everyday in all things you see, hear, and feel. I like making an effort to look for it every day and remembering to say THANKS! that I found it! How do you see magic?

I interrupt this lovely holiday to RANT AND RAVE!!!

Ok for your sakes I will only rant on one subject... STUFF!!!!!!
I went out to put away this green tote, buy to my pink dishes for awhile.

Yes ladies this is my on site storage. No attic and the closets are non existent!

Yes ladies it is to the roof! Six feet tall on both sides all the way to the top! Over half is mine. The other half is my mother's.

I AM GETTING RID OF IT ALL! I'M DONE IT HAS TO GO!!!

What brought this on you ask? I have at least 5 glass acorns and 3 turkeys.

NONE OF WHICH I COULD FIND TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not happy and I was DRIPPING wet with sweat when I came inside. I have 2 Halloween totes and one with fall glass. NONE of which I could find ONE SINGLE ACORN OR TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am off this weekend and I have decided anything I don't think I can put on consignment at Suzanna's Antiques will be given away on my blog! I want it gone ALL OF IT!!

My house you understand is OVERFLOWING!!!!!

I am also going to be VERY careful not to buy one single stupid holiday item this year. I got tired of the 12 Christmas totes I opened and that really put me over the edge so I had to quit! Be on the lookout ladies I am on a rampage!

Thanks for listening I just had to get this off my chest. Now MAYBE I can make it to Saturday to get this done. Watch out Jenny here I come with a LOAD!

Kitten kittens Kittens

Hi!!! Don't you just love cute animal pictures? I just had to share the cuties we have at work now! They all need homes and they will be well loved here until they get them. We have people who are sweet enough to rescue kittens so we care for them and get them homes. (Only VERY sick kittens don't get homes here and these are usually beyond any help when we get them. )

So here are my new little sweeties




As you can see we love kitties!!! UPDATE...

Edward and Bella have joined the family!!! We are so happy to have these two sweeties join the others they have a few days of deworming and then we will have 6 wonderful kittens in our window. We are already very attached to them all so we're hoping their new families come and get them soon!!

As I look back over this post my little sweeties are so big now!! Lee the longer hair orange kitty is HUGE!! He will be just the best cat!
Jasper is still my sweetie!! I hope he gets a home I really cannot take him!!!! But he LOVES me!
Alice is just a sweetie, we were worried she would not ever warm up, but they all "sell themselves" every time someone looks their way!!
SO 3 down 4 to go! We got an orange girl this week!!!! She's tiny!!

Look what I made!!

This is what I said after I warned my mom I was happy with it and I didn't want any "help" with it. I don't do making things well and my Mom takes over if I'm not doing it right, I could use that to get her to do things but most of the time I just want to try. I know I sound whiny but my mom can make anything and she's her own worst critic but this I was very proud of! Now I've been working on it for months and finally got the pincushion part made and properly placed! I'm very proud of it!I have started my second pin cushion and hope to have it to share soon!

Mochas

As I'm sitting at home on my day off trying to be good and not waste gas or spend money, my mind is wondering to Mochas, frozen ones this time of year but hot in the winter absolutly! I really like them best with a shot of raspberry.

I also like coffee accessories...scoops, cups, pots, reusable tumbelers. So now I've hit ANOTHER collection I have hehehe

I have collected these from Starbucks for a long time now. Lots of stories, My favorite Sunshine cup is cracked and leaks :(

I broke one on the way to work with a $4 mocha in it!! Replaced the cup and bought a back up.

Now last summer I kept seeing this cup and loved it! Look it's own straw!! And then Seattles Best DID a PINK one (had to go all over town to find this one waited too long and all the pink were gone)

The best part about not getting this cup last year is I resisted the urge to pay a FORTUNE for it on ebay ( last look $60 each) Because Starbucks rereleased it this year!! Yeah! I controlled my OCD and was rewarded for it!!

SO mom is bribing me to go to Starbucks so my cup and I are off!! (so much for saving gas :) )

Updates!

I just wanted to share a little news:
First my baby cousin Chase is in his second round of kemo and was ok until a bout with a C-DIFF infection hit him. They have to do 8 total rounds of kemo, 2 radiation and are harvesting his stem cells (thank God the Insurance company ok'd That was the last thing they need) starting on Monday, a long several day process, YUCK!! Thought you'd like to see this...


Our dear friend Ann @ Life at Anns Place has had great news and will be heading to Houston for testing week after next!

And last but not least Our sweet sisters @ the wild raspberry have had good news that their sister Shauna has come through her surgery and are waiting test results. Link to this post it is very beautiful!

twilight

So I rented the movie twilight. It's a teenage Vampire book series that is now a movie series. It was not so good. Several people at work had read the books and so had a few other friends that are my age. I LOVE Harry Potter, so why not try it.


I came to appreciate the movie after reading the book, and was WARNED even by the biggest fan of the series that book 3 (eclipse) was not good. I really didn't mind book 3 it was along with the first 2. SOOOO I get to book 4 (breaking dawn) AND ....

I really don't want to trash the series. That's not why I'm here, it's just bad. All writers get a pattern to their books. I pause when I know I'm coming to a portion that is in that pattern that I may not want to get to. BUT this one goes off the deep end and not in 1000 words or less. OK I know I'm reading about Vampires so I really shouldn't expect believability to it.

But it's hard when you cannot even be happy the main characters are together at last!

The story is really good with teens that ACT like teens, and I love fantasy and I really just don't like the turn of the story.

Thanks for listening to me groan about having to finish a series! If you want to read these books and are aware of the story go ahead, they are really not that bad. Just keep telling yourself they are teenagers and it really works. The first half of book 4 is tough though.
I guess I just want other peoples feedback on the books. I'm not sure why it just seems to make me feel better to talk about it. Thanks in advance ot anyone who wants to share!

Good Friday

Is there ever a bad one? I've been so busy with Holy Week I've little time to blog. I just wanted to leave a Good Friday Note!

Where did it go?

I was wondering around Wal-Mart today looking for Easter Baskets, and I decided to journey to the magazines. I had already been told that Mary Engelbrite's Home Companion is no longer being published and that Country Home was leaving us too! I know times are tough but there i a need and lots of want for these! It's sad to see that they folded because of lack of Advertising! I just hope someone somwhere can find a way to get these up and running AND help the ones still there. It was also sad to see the ones left (all great magazines don't get me wrong) are ALL advertising! Where are the features? I personally know SOOOOOO many great artists and even small business owners that have really great stories to tell. Lets hope this corrects itself. Never thought about being a publisher but I can look into it!
