Sares at Loveliegh Treasures wants us to share names and where they came from.
What fun!
Since it is my Birthday today I'll share about my name.
Lisa Ann
The Lisa was so I wouldn't be named after any one in the family. The story I got was my dad went to the store to get my mom something she was craving at the time and a few ladies were discussing As the World Turns.
If any of you remember that show in the 70's or even 80's there was a great character with the name Lisa she was on for many many many years and main character for most of those years. Apparently in 1968 she was getting married a lot and topic of conversation!
So when he got home he asked if mom liked the name. Now keep in mind he didn't know anything about the show and mom thought it was funny when he told what he'd heard!
My Ann is my mother's middle name and the name of her mother's oldest sister. Ann was dead by the time I was born so it was many many many years before I really made the connection.
Another really good part is Mom wanted me named Kimberly Louise! I think Kim is just as common as Lisa so I would have been fine with that one too!
Have you seen this on Typepad?
I think it is funny that this was picked for my avatar on my comments on typepad.
My nickname that was given to me by two people who never even knew each other is Sunshine!
So I really like that Typepad randomly picked this one for me!
Hope you all have a great Thursday and enjoy reading about names!
Hugs, Lisa

Hi Lisa, love your name and I do remember Lisa from the soaps, she was a fiery vixen! ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm just in love with your blog name. Every time I see it I think of the song, "they call it puppy-love". Oh, I'm old!
Debra
Happy Birthday, Lisa! You are a ray of sunshine and do always cheer me up. My mother watched that show and I do remember Lisa! I was named after the Frank Sinatra song, Nancy with the Smiling Face. What great hopes she must have had for her first child. I love that you did still get a family name, even if it is your middle name.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog and your kind praise.
Lisa, Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful time and a great year ahead.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly who Lisa is, LOL! My mother and grandmother LOVED Lisa as did everyone from the blue hair brigade. Eileen Fulton is one of the classic soap actresses, and she apparently is a very talented singer/performer off the soap sets, too. I love that story! Such fun. Thanks for sharing...
XO,
Sheila... who is finally back to blogging! :-)
Well, happy birthday, Lisa! I believe in celebrating your birthday all month! I love the story of how you got your name. I remember watching Lisa on As the World Turns. Oh, she was quite the vixen. It was so nice of you to come by our blog and say hi. I understand that life gets in the way sometimes, we became followers of yours a while back and I do pop in, but don't always stop and say hi :( Please forgive me. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Good luck with the giveaway! Twyla
